Australian Electoral Commission
A Federal Election is Australia’s largest peacetime exercise. As voting is compulsory, rather than “getting out the vote out”, the task was to celebrate our democratic system. However, we also had to raise awareness of important rule changes to the Electoral Act, especially among younger, first-time voters and people who had changed address, to minimise the number of people disenfranchised for missing the new deadline to enrol to vote, or failing to update their details. The campaign consisted of thousands of executions in numerous channels and languages, including TV, radio, print, outdoor and online. The results surpassed all expectations, with 620,000 more enrolments than at the previous election.
